Husband and wife team expand property portfolio with help from GB Bank

Thursday, September 19, 2024

AN EXPERIENCED husband and wife property development team have expanded their portfolio on Merseyside with the help of GB Bank.

The Teesside-based bank provided a residential bridging loan to Brian & Lauren Metcalfe’s property development company, Skaus Haus Ltd, to buy a mixed-use property in the Garston area of Liverpool.

The property, which was acquired at auction, is now set to have its ground floor retail unit upgraded and its three-bedroom upper flat converted into a five-bedroom House of Multiple Occupation (HMO).

The Metcalfes are experienced property investors and developers with 10 properties in their combined portfolio, several of which have been converted or refurbished after being acquired.

Laleta Buctkuar, Relationship Manager at GB Bank, said: “Brian and Lauren have a long track record of successfully refurbishing and transforming properties so we were very pleased to be able to help them out with this latest addition to their portfolio.

“The property will provide improved commercial space as well as extended residential accommodation to benefit the local community in this part of Liverpool.”

Saam Lowni of Merryoaks Property Finance was the broker on the deal.

Saam said: “We have built up a great relationship with GB Bank and we were confident that they would be able to deliver on this deal.

“Laleta and the team at GB Bank were great to deal with and provided a flexible and efficient service to ensure the transaction could be completed.”
